Norman Steisel Served As NYC Sanitation Commissioner

He served as Commissioner of Sanitation in New York City from 1979 to 1986. Mr. Steisel was accountable for all-around management of the $600 million enterprise. He distinguished himself by introducing many productivity initiatives. His leadership as Sanitation Commissioner was demonstrated by ambitious, inventive decisions that succeeded in invigorating the Sanitation Department while saving NYC millions of dollars.
